MADISONVILLE-After nearly three decades
of what appeared to be a smooth operation, accusations are flying
back and forth in a lawsuit involving the Cora Veal Senior Center in
Madisonville.
A few months after Center Director
Frances Maxwell resigned her position, a group calling themselves "Members of the Monroe County Senior Citizens and Friends, Inc." filed a lawsuit claiming the center isn't being run correctly.
In the suit, the group claims, among
other things, the board of directors was not elected by the Center's
membership, the board has failed to give notice of annual meetings,
has not accepted written applications for membership on the board,
two years have elapsed since members were allowed to vote on board
