MIDWAY-The Tellico Plains Bears traveled to Midway Friday evening seeking their second win of the season, but fell to the Green Wave, 28 to 14.

Midway won the toss and elected to receive. Midway didn't waste any time getting on the board first, as they took the opening drive down the field for a Tyler Clark rushing touchdown to make it 7-0 early in the first quarter.

The Bears would answer on their first position by driving down the field for a Adam Reece touchdown to make it 7-7.

Both teams would turn the ball over on downs on their next two positions and that's the way the first quarter would end knotted at 7 a piece.

On Midway's first postion of the second quarter the Green Wave scored on a long pass from Shandon Lyle to Mason Woody to give home team a 13-7 lead early in the second quarter.

Tellico would have to punt the ball back to Midway on their next position and Midway would score on a long run by Lyle to make it 21-7 at the half.

Tellico got the ball first in the second half looking to get back in the game. The Bears drove down deep into Midway territory before a fumble gave it back to Midway. The teams would swap the next two positions by four and out for Midway and a turnover on downs for Tellico.

Tellico got a late touchdown in the third quarter by the way of a 65-yard pass from Dwayne Hollingshead to Robert Vandervort to make it a 21-14 game at the end of the third.

Midway would gave the ball back to the Bears on their first position of the final quarter to give the Bears their first chance to tie the game since the first quarter.

The Bears would convert two crucial fourth down play on their next possesĀsion, but would eventually turn the ball over on an interception. Midway on their very next position would drive the ball deep into Tellico territory where they would fumble the ball and give the Bears another opportunity to tie the game up late. But the Green Wave would intercept a pass and return it for touchdown to give the Midway a 28-14 victory over the Bears in a hard fought ballgame.

The Bears will once again be on the road Friday as they travel to Grace Christian in Knoxville, one of the top teams in East Tennessee, for a district matchup.
