POLK COUNTY-You can sum up Sweetwater's game Friday night on the road against Polk County in two words, big plays.

Big plays produced by the Wildcats from Polk County led to a 26-19 loss for Sweetwater. After Sweetwater went three plays and out on the opening series of the game, the Wildcats were forced to punt to Polk County. Polk County's Chris Wimberley would receive the punt at his own 22-yard line and, after some great blocks, raced 78 yards for a score coming at 10:05 to go in the first quarter.

Midway through the first it appeared that Polk County was going to add another touchdown but Sweetwater's defense stepped up and stopped Polk County on fourth down at the 2-yard line. The Sweetwater offense proceeded to march the ball 98 yards on 19 plays that ate up 7:13 off the clock and ended with a 1-yard quarterback sneak into the end zone by Andrew Barr. The extra point was blocked.

Sweetwater trailed Polk County 7-6 with 10:19 to go in the secĀond quarter.

Polk County dialed up another big scoring play on the next drive as fullback Zach Miller rumbled 72 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was missed and the new score was 13-6 Polk County with 9:58 left before halftime.

Sweetwater came right back and put together a 59-yard drive and capped it off with another Barr 1-yard run. The extra point try was off the mark again and Polk County maintained the advantage at 13-12 with 7:51 left in the second.

Just as Sweetwater was feeling the momentum turn in their favor, here comes another dagger from Polk County in the form of a big play.

On Polk County's next offensive series, they dug into their bags of tricks and pull out the halfback pass from Chris Wimberley to a wide open Justin Brown that covered 52 yards and resulted in a Polk County touchdown at 7:20 in the second quarter. Polk County would unsuccessfully try a two-point conversion.

At the break, Polk County led Sweetwater 19-12. Fast forward to the fourth quarter and Sweetwater found themselves down 26-12 with 4:16 left in the game. Sweetwater covered 60 yards in just 59 seconds and scored on a Jordan McGaughey 5-yard run. The Garret Zickgraf PAT was good and, after all the adversity, Sweetwater was right back in the game down 26-19 with four minutes to go.

The Sweetwater defense answered the call with 2:24 left when they forced and fumble which was recovered by McGaughey at the Sweetwater 16-yard line. With a chance to drive down and tie it up, the Sweetwater offense came up a half yard short on fourth down and turned it over to Polk County, who took a couple of kneel downs and went on to the 26-19 victory. Sweetwater's record falls to 4-1 overall, 0-1 in the district. They will travel to Loudon next week.
