Sequoyah was a little shocked this time last year. 2011 saw the Meigs County Tigers roll into Chiefs Country and pull out a 26-6 win. After Friday's 40-2 victory in Decatur, the Chiefs aren't shocked anymore, but the Tigers might be.

Coming off two big wins on the road, Sequoyah improved to 3-0 (1-0 in 5-AA) as the utterly dominated the entire game. 329 yards of total offense was all the Chiefs needed as their defense and special teams played huge roles. Brett King got the ball rolling with nice passes to Garret Dalton and a new favorite target Ruben Abernathy. The passing game meshed well with the ground attack.

Blake Huffman scored his first touchdown with 10 minutes to go in the first quarter making the score 6-0. Drew Carson added a touchdown run of his own, and caught the 2-point conversion to make it 14-0. King hit Austin Lunsford for a big score in the second, Chiefs up 20-0. Right before the half, Huffman put on a show.

1250 WRKQ color analyst Dave Evans likes to refer to Sequoyah's senior fullback as the "Water Heater." Well the water heater was surely working on Friday. Huffman ran over four Tigers on his way to his second score, albeit on 4th and 25 to make the game 28-0 at the half.

The second half was full of great plays and new players. At wideout, Eli Woods made a great grab as did Matt Gletty. While on defense, Mikenzy Blair, and Thomas Spradling each had three stops behind the line. Forrest McKane and Dustin Webb were constant headaches for the Tigers. They both had two sacks apiece. Casey Coon filled in with five stops including a sack. Lunsford ignited Sequoyah in the third quarter with a 65-yard punt return for a score. 34-0 Chiefs. He also recorded an interception.

On the very next possession for Meigs, the Tigers lined up to punt. This time though, the ball never made it to Lunsford. It wasn't by design. Caleb Minor single handedly, and I mean with literally one hand, blocked a punt and raced down the field 40 yards to recover the ball in the end zone.

The Tigers would tack on a safety to make the final 40-2. Next week the Chiefs open up the home schedule with a prime matchup with Lenoir City.
