District Attorney General Steve Bebb
contends allegations of wrongdoing against him and his office are
unfounded and are simply political in nature.
"I have not broken any laws of
violated any rules of ethics," Bebb said Tuesday morning. "I will stand my ground."
Bebb furthermore said he is proud of
his 10th Judicial District staff, which prosecutes cases in Monroe,
McMinn, Polk and Bradley counties.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press
recently published a lengthy investigative series that highlighted
allegations of prosecutorial misconduct and misuse of public money by
Bebb and his office.
The Chattanooga paper's investigation
said Bebb drove a seized drug car, claiming taxpayer reimbursement
for travel in the vehicle. The series of articles further said
prosecutors had withheld evidence in criminal cases and stated there
had been unchecked spending by the former 10th District Drug Task
