SWEETWATER-"The waiting is the hardest part."

That's a line from a Tom Petty song and perhaps the sentiment of those waiting on Walmart to break ground in Sweetwater.

Others not wanting the retail giant to come to town might have taken solace there has been little movement on the proposed 25-acre Super Center site on the south side of town.

But city officials said Monday, Walmart finally closed on the property purchase July 31.

That means the timetable for construction to begin on the 150,000-square-foot store is likely September.
