MADISONVILLE-At first what seemed like
a simple vote on whether or not to allow beer sales every day of the
week except for Sundays and election days ended up leaving the
Madisonville Mayor and Aldermen confused and wondering.
Police Commissioner Bill Spradlin had
made the seemingly innocuous motion as an admitted attempt to get
back tax revenue that was being siphoned off by the county and the
other towns in it.
"It is to compete with the other
towns," Spradlin said. "They all have beer sales every day of the
year, except election day, and we'd like to get some of the sales
tax back in Madisonville." See full story in the Wednesday, July 11, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
