WRKQ 'Powers' change in Monroe

Big changes are happening in Monroe County. 1250 WRKQ will begin a new chapter in Monroe radio history in August. The Oldies music station will become Monroe County's exclusive home for the Vols and Titans.

All Vol football, basketball and Titans football will air all season long. Sequoyah sports will still air as priority when shchedules overlap, which shouldn't be much if any. Station owner Mike Powers is excited about the possibilities.

"For the first time in Monroe radio history, the Vols will be broadcast from a Monroe station, as will the Titan," said Powers, adding, "It's a great thing for the station and the community."
