Silent suffering: Monroe County working to help the homeless

MADISONVILLE-If you don't see a problem, does it exist?

When most people think of the homeless, they picture people in grubby clothes gathered around some kind of heat spewing vent in a big city. They don't see somebody hanging out in a small town park or just constantly walking the streets.

And they certainly don't see someone down on their luck and moving in with a relative or friend. Because if you don't have a home, just because you live in somebody else's house doesn't mean you're not homeless.

The Tennessee Valley Coalition to End Homelessness (TVCEH) is coming to Monroe County after a count in January turned up more homeless in the county than most would have thought was here.
