SWEETWATER-It may be summer vacation,
but the Sweetwater Board of Education still had business to attend to
Monday night.
The board on Monday reluctantly passed
a 25-cent increase for school lunches at all schools except the
junior high.
Jewell Nelson, nutrition supervisor for
the city schools, said an increase in food costs and mandates
requiring more fruits and vegetable to be served is requiring school
systems across to raise their lunch prices.
School Board Chairman Richard Rowe
announced the board will vote on a contract renewal for Director of
Schools Dr. Melanie Miller in July. See full story in the Wednesday, June 13, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
