Stolen motorcycle causes flap

MADISONVILLE-When is a stolen motorcycle not a stolen motorcycle?

Through a series of misunderstandings and a quick trigger finger to remove a motorcycle as stolen from the NCIC computer, an Athens man claimed the Madisonville Police weren't attempting to recover his stolen bike.

In an unsigned letter to the Daily Post-Athenian, the man claimed his motorcycle had been stolen, then found in Madisonville, but no attempts had been made to get the bike or the person who stole it.

Madisonville Police Chief Gregg Breeden said he knew the case, though he declined to name the unidentified letter writer.
