The Sweetwater City Schools Coordinated School Health and Monroe County Alcohol Drug Task Force will present Cancer Queens, a cancer prevention musical revue, at 10:15 a.m., Friday, Feb. 12, in the play gym at Sweetwater Primary School. Admission is free.
The Cancer Queens are a group of professional health educators who are on a mission to insure you to treat yourself like a queen and take care of your health. The Queens know all too well how often women put the needs of their loved ones before their own and forget to focus on their own health. However, research shows that when women take care of themselves, the health of their family improves.
During your time with the Queens, you will learn about healthy lifestyle habits that will help you reduce your risk of developing certain cancers as well as other serious health conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes. You can raise your heart rate by laughing, tapping your toes, singing and applauding enthusiastically! After all, you're a queen - you can do anything you like.
Most importantly, after you leave here, make your health a priority. Encourage and support your mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins, co-workers and girlfriends to make their health a priority as well. Help each other as you make those lifestyle changes that will lead to a stronger, healthier and happier life.
Treat yourself like a queen and have a royal good time along the way! For information, call 337-4676.
