By the time you read this, we will have been snowed or iced in...or maybe not. It seems like we never know in East Tennessee what type of winter weather we are going to have until it's over. And nine times out of 10, we seem to miss out. I am not complaining about that. Once Christmas is over I am ready for spring.
But as of Wednesday, when I am writing my column a day earlier than normal, the concern is the area will receive some type of rain, ice and snow Friday and Saturday. All the standard jokes about East Tennesseans will apply Wednesday and Thursday. Yes, we are all going to run out to the grocery store and buy all the bread, milk and toilet paper we can.
I can take a little snow if we still have power, but ice, now that's a different story. It's been years since we've had a major ice storm, but remembering what the state of Kentucky went through last winter with an ice storm reminds us just how devastating they can be with power outages and impassable road conditions.
Online poll If you are snowed in this weekend or just taking it easy no matter what the weather, please visit The Advocate & Democrat online at www.advocateanddemocrat.com. You can vote in our online poll and give President Barack Obama a grade for his first year in office. It will be like "No Child Left Behind" or make that "No President Left Behind!"
Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and cast your vote then see how many people agree with you.
