Monroe County is under a blanket of snow and ice Saturday.
As expected, the snow moved in mid-afternoon Friday and almost immediately made travel very treacherous throughout the county.
Numerous accidents were reported from the interstate on the west side of the county to mountain roads on the east side.
The county is under a winter weather advisory through the afternoon Saturday as a sleet/rain mixture as been reported. The temperature in the valleys has risen above the freezing mark with melting of snow and ice occurring. But with the low temperature expected to fall into the low 20s Sunday morning, refreezing will occur.
Some power outages have been reported after the snow changed to some sleet Friday night.
