William Blount outscored Sequoyah by 13 points from the charity stripe and by 12 points from behind the arc but still needed overtime to down the Lady Chiefs.
The Class AAA Lady Governors won the extra period 12-3 to secure their 54-45 win.

Sequoyah trailed by five points after three quarters of play before Hayley Simpson's three-point field goal gave the Lady Chiefs a 38-37 lead, their first of the contest.
William Blount's Tatum Burstrom made two tosses and the visitors were back in front.
Charissa Cardin got free down low for two, then the Lady Chiefs forced a turnover.
A beautiful play - four passes without the ball ever touching the court - ended with a Cardin lay-up and a 42-39 Sequoyah lead.

Fifty-eight seconds showed on the Chop House clock when Brittany Tipton buried a trey for William Blount to knot the count at 42.
The Lady Govs missed a free throw and the Lady Chiefs missed two field goals before the horn sounded to end regulation play.

Sequoyah fans were excited as the overtime began when Simpson drove for a layup and what looked to be the first step in an old-fashioned three-point play.
But the man with the whistle had a different view, and the basket was disallowed and Simpson was charged with her fifth foul and had to leave the contest.
William Blount got a field goal, Sequoyah committed a pair of turnovers and the visitors hit four of six free throws to lead 48-42.

Danielle Slack unleashed a long-range bomb for three and the Lady Chiefs trailed 48-45 with 1:10 to play.
The Lady Chiefs forced a ten-second backcourt turnover on the ensuing William Blount possession but never scored again.
Freshman Cardin led the Lady Chiefs with 12 points.

Simpson scored 11 and another freshman, Slack, had nine points for Sequoyah.
Others who counted for the Lady Chiefs were Oceana Richards with six points, Hilary Dyer with four, Sam Hamilton with two and Kassidi Freeman with one point.
Burstrom hit two threes and eight of nine free throws to lead William Blount with a game-high 18.
Tipton added 14 for the Blount County school and made two treys.
Sara Wilson and Sam VanVranden each scored eight points, Shelby Click had five and Hannah Stinnett tallied one point for William Blount.

The Lady Govs scored seven straight points as the game began, then Sequoyah tallied six in a row, four by Dyer and two by Richards to trail by one.

The visitors added a free throw and the low-scoring first quarter ended with William Blount up 8-6.
Hamilton got a bucket for Sequoyah one minute into the second stanza but the Lady Govs hit three treys in a row and a two to build a 19-8 advantage. The visitors led 20-15 at the half.
Four more treys helped William Blount raise their advantage during the third period and they led 33-23 with 44 seconds left in the quarter.

Slack then converted an old-fashioned three-point play and Richards scored with an assist from Slack to get the Lady Chiefs within five, 33-28, with one quarter to play.
Sequoyah opened the final period with a 7-2 run sparked by a Cardin field goal with a Simpson assist.

Simpson scored on a run out after a great pass from Richards and then hit two free throws before Slack made one and the score was tied at 35.

The Lady Govs regained the lead with two freebies by Burstrom before Simpson buried the trey that gave Sequoyah their first lead.
