The Rural Health Association of Tennessee has announced that on Jan. 1, Betti Wilson of Sweetwater, assumed the presidency of the Rural Health Association of Tennessee for 2010.

Betti Wilson is a health care consultant specializing in medical facilities development.  Betti was the administrator of Women's Wellness & Maternity Center (WWMC) in Madisonville, for 10 years, and was a consultant on the $5.2 million Vanderbilt/Kellogg Birth Center Project during the developmental phase.

Wilson is well aware of the challenges of providing health care to rural underserved Tennesseans and has hands-on experience with such issues as recruitment, reimbursement (TennCare), patient transportation, and similar problems that are more prevalent in rural areas. She was responsible for achieving rural health clinic status for several entities in Tennessee and also responsible for several health centers receiving safety net grant dollars from the State of Tennessee.

She also worked with Chota Community Health Services in Vonore, in the development and submission of their funded grant establishing them as a Federally Qualified Community Health Center. Betti holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and an MS in organizational psychology.

She has been actively involved with the Rural Health Association of Tennessee since its inception and is currently serving as Awards Committee Chair of the Annual Rural Health Association Conference. Betti has served as conference chair, a past member of the Tennessee Primary Care Association Board of Directors and past president of her local Kiwanis Club.

Betti and her husband, Don, live in Sweetwater.
