Dancing with the Stars is coming to Sweetwater Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center as a Kiwanis benefit for high school students' college scholarships.  The evening will be filled with dancing, special entertainment with pieces from Elton John and the Village People along with professional lighting and sound.

Julia Stutts-King, Charlie Ridenour and Phil Roy will serve as our expert judges sharing their candid comments on technique, style and performance as well as casting their votes.  Perhaps some of the stars will receive 9's and 10's in competition of the mirrored ball trophy designed by the Minute Man Gift Shoppe.

Video clip of rehearsals, bloopers and comments will precede each stars performance.  After each dance, Amy and Rodney Bibee will interview and assist the judges with comments and scores.
Sweetwater's Stars include Doug Richesin, Heath Hawkins, Barry Mathews, Dr. Hugh McCampbell, David Vestal, Darren Nichols, Greg Newman, Jacqueline Mason, Saunook Pedigo, Lindsey Oaks, Jamie Gruenenfelder, Angie Best, Jesse Hester, Andrea Kirkland, Heather Kirkland and Lauren Kirkland.

Music for the evening includes pieces from Elvis, Michael Jackson, Rocky, M. C. Hammer, Achy-Breaky Heart, Saturday Night Fever and more. Styles of dance will be Pade Doble' swing, disco, line dancing, hip-hop, tap and Latin. You do not want to miss this event to see who is dancing with whom, wearing which style costume and performing their number.

Audience members will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite star while enjoying refreshments provided by the Dinner Bell Restaurant.  Hors d'euvres, desserts and beverages will be complimentary with your ticket making the evening a complete experience. Dinner Bell also hosts the weekly lunch meetings of the Kiwanis Club.

The evening will conclude with local favorites Rodney Boruff, Eddie Byrum, Rusty Vineyard, Charlie Robbins, Dennis Kirkland and a surprise guest performing a dance number.
The Sweetwater Evening with the Stars is produced by Salt & Light Studios, directed by Robin Kirkland in conjunction with the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club.  The evening will be an occasion of amazing dancing, laughter, video, lights, performances and great food and fellowship.  This is an evening you do not want to miss.
