Madisonville Police dealt with both a suspected rape and a vicious dog over the weekend.
Patrolman Adam Russell said he went to the Holiday Motor Lodge just after 11 p.m. Saturday and talked with a woman who said she was asleep in her bed when she woke up to find a man lying on top of her.
The woman said the man was attempting to remove her clothing and had already started to rape her when she woke up. The woman said she told the man to stop and get out of the apartment, but the man kept saying, "This is what you want," over and over.
The woman said she was finally able to scare the man off. Russell said he and fellow officer Chris Williams checked the other apartments to see if the man could be found, but he wasn't anywhere around. The woman was taken to Sweetwater Hospital for medical tests.
The alleged attacker is described as being a slim white male, mid sized in height, with no hair and little facial hair. At the time of the attack he was said to be shirtless and wearing gray workout pants.
Detective Jeremy Harrill is working the case.
Officer shoots dog
On Sunday morning, around 9:30 a.m., Captain Danny Russell and Officer Steve Sloan had to deal with two pit bulls, one of which ended up being shot.
Sloan said that J. Bivens came to the Police Department and said Melissa Davis had given him a money gram for $976.76 as a down payment for a car. The money gram was returned to Bivens as being counterfeit.
The two officers and Bivens went to Davis' home and asked her about the money gram. Sloan said Davis became irate and went back into her house where she shouted something. A few seconds later, Sloan said, two pit bulls came charging out of the house.
Sloan said the officers and Bivens feared for their safety and he shot one of dogs to stop the charge.
Davis was then arrested, charged with aggravated assault and criminal simulation.
