Monroe County Sheriff's Office press release
On Jan. 15, an ongoing internal affairs investigation of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office was concluded with the arrest of Julia Robison on a new bill indictment for theft over $10,000. TBI Special Agent David Guy presented the evidence against Robison to the grand jury.
The investigation began when Robison was on administrative leave due to another policy violation investigated by Detective Pat Henry, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office internal affairs investigator. The initial internal affairs investigation determined that Robison had violated Sheriff's Office policy by releasing sensitive and confidential information to a felony probationer. This information endangered an ongoing drug investigation and the lives of officers.
Robison was found responsible for this unauthorized release of information and terminated for cause. While the initial investigation was ongoing, other officers had been assigned to perform Robison's commissary duties. The officer assigned to fill in discovered there were large amounts of money not properly accounted for. Sheriff Bivens immediately met with key personnel and requested a state audit. The audit was performed and discovered a shortfall of more than $30,000.
At this time the TBI was notified and Robison was interviewed by Guy. Agent Guy, the state auditors, the mayor's office, and the Sheriff's Office have spent many months investigating and gathering evidence for this case.
Robison was booked and released on a $5,000 bond from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 15.
