Winter weather getting old already

OK.

I am ready for spring.

I usually get ready for spring the day after Christmas, but I am really ready this year. I know we have been spoiled the last 15 years (roughly) with pretty mild winters and maybe we are just getting a little payback or some of what we used to get. But I am over it.

The past few winters have been so mild I usually find a day where it's 60 degrees or better to go hit a few tennis balls in January.
However, as I write my column, nothing like that looks like it is in sight. I guess if we can just get a 50-degree day some time this month, that would make us feel like we are in Hawaii.

We are not the only ones suffering and I guess it is all relative.
If you watched the Orange Bowl the other night on TV, you witnessed the coldest Orange Bowl ever with a kickoff temperature of 49 degrees.

Some winters the grass stays pretty green around here, but this year it is brown. Everything looks like it is dead.
I have to play little games with myself to make it through the cold times.
Remember Halloween? That doesn't seem that long ago, really.

In that amount of time from now, it will be the middle of March. Of course in March it can be 35 degrees one day and 75 the next, but I'd take that right now.
There are some good things about cold weather. You can spend a little extra time snuggling with the one you love.

I just had to do that to see if you were still paying attention.
Maybe a groundhog will give us some good news here in a few weeks.
