Tennessee State Trooper Cory Russell said Michael Godfrey, 62, Corntassel Road, was driving toward Vonore on Highway 72 East when the wreck happened. Witnesses told Russell Godfrey suddenly slumped over in his seat and the truck left the road without attempting to stop. Russell said Godfrey had just left the Dragon's Inn bar, but it wouldn't be known in alcohol played a factor until toxicology reports were completed. Russell also said Godfrey wasn't wearing a seatbelt, which could have made a difference in the wreck.
