A Sweetwater area man was arrested Saturday after a newspaper delivery driver found a 6-year-old girl walking on Sunflower Circle without any pants on.
Geneva Hassell told Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Cansler she was delivering papers on Sunflower Circle when she saw the girl walking around.

She stopped and stayed with the child for about 20 minutes until Cansler arrived. The girl told Cansler her mom was at work and her dad was at home.
Cansler took the girl to her home on Ashmore Street and had her father, Charles William Harris, 43, come outside. Harris told Cansler he had no idea his daughter had gone outside and hadn't seen her in about an hour.

Cansler contacted the girl's mother and when she arrived at the house, Cansler took Harris into custody, charging him with child neglect.

Woman charged after giving
pot, beer to juvenile
Another Sweetwater resident was taken into custody over the weekend after she allegedly allowed a juvenile to smoke marijuana in her home on Halloween.
Sweetwater City School Resource Officer David Lewallen said a 14 year old told him he was given beer to drink and a marijuana joint to smoke.
Lewallen arrested Lucretia Tutt, Fair Street, charging her with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

False identity charges filed
And Madisonville Police arrested a man who gave a false identity after his car broke down Sunday.
Patrolman Gerald Summey said he went to the area of LA Spa's on Highway 411 after receiving a report of a stranded motorist. When he arrived he found a man standing at the car with the hood up.
As he approached the man, Summey said he could smell alcohol on him and he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

When he placed the man under arrest, the man said his name was John Garrett. Later at the jail he gave his name as David Bovard. Both names were incorrect and he was later identified as David Scott Winkler, 37, Dunn Road, Tellico Plains.

Winkler is charged with public intoxication and criminal impersonation.
Also arrested at the scene was Jeffery Van Garrett, 45, Highway 411, Madisonville, on a charge of public intoxication.
