Sweetwater Police arrested two Florida men Friday after allegedly catching them with more than 1,100 pills at McDonald's.
SPD Assistant Chief Mike Jenkins said officers first received a call about a possible drunk driver along Interstate 75.
"We got a call they were running people off the road," Jenkins said.
SPD was able to locate the suspects at McDonald's Restaurant at I-75 Exit 60.
According to a report filed by Sgt. Kevin Watson, the driver Vincent H. Rizzo, 25, Bradenton, Fla., and passenger, Brian Andrew Fox, 30, Bradenton, Fla., were having trouble staying awake and were incoherent.
Watson's report said both suspects had white residue around their mouths.
When, Rizzo opened his duffel bag to get his identification, officers saw a hypodermic needle and an empty pill bottle.
According to police, the two suspects gave different stories when they were questioned with one suspect saying they were on their way to Kentucky and the other saying they were headed south to Florida.
Officers said they found numerous bottles in the car with Oxycodone, Soma and Xanax pills inside.
SPD charged the suspects with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and the manufacture, sale and delivery of Schedule II drugs.
Police seized $5,147 in cash and the suspects' 2003 Ford Expedition.
In addition to Jenkins and Watson, SPD Officers Marty Kyle, Chris Francis and the Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation, Police Chief Eddie Byrum said.
