An attempt to serve an arrest warrant Friday led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab outside of Tellico Plains Friday.
Monroe County Sheriff's Capt. Bill Johnson was attempting to serve the warrant on Scott Murphy and found the lab in the process. Johnson said he had to enter the house to search for Murphy due to the fact he was hiding.

Detective Conway Mason came to the house on Highway 68  and confirmed there were components for a meth lab in the house.
Officers also found several firearms in the house, including a handgun and a shotgun, which were close to where Murphy was hiding.
Mason said Murphy is a convicted felon and is not supposed to be in possession of firearms.
Two women in the house, Lindy Knox, 30, and Mary Dalton, 42, told Mason they had been staying at the house and were also arrested.

Murphy, 46, is charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Lindy Knox is charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Dalton is charged with initiating the process to manufacture methamphetamine.
