Autumn Gold Festival
The 40th annual Autumn Gold Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, oct. 10 and 11 from 9:30 to 5 p.m. at Coker Creek Village. The crowning of the festival queen will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, participants must register by noon Sunday. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children 6-11 and free for children under 6.



Day of Play at Museum
Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, will host the fourth annual Ayoka's Day of Play for children ages 6-12 from 10 a.m.-noon., Oct. 10. Ayoka, youngest daughter of Sequoyah, was also his first student to learn to use the Syllabary to read and write Cherokee. Children will have the opportunity to experience and participate in Cherokee games and competitions. Cost for the program is $3 per child.  Call 884-6246. A parent or guardian must remain with their child during the program.
Garrison Weekend
at Fort Loudoun
Fort Loudoun will come back to life over the weekend of Oct. 10 and 11. The Fort Loudoun staff will be joined by volunteers who will recreate life at this mid-18th century military outpost. The living history program will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission to the program is free.
