Karen Northridge, publisher for nationally known, "Where to Retire" magazine, has designated Willow Creek in Sweetwater, as one of America's 100 Best Master-Planned Communities.

According to Northridge, editors reviewed several hundred candidates across the country during a nine-month selection process. Selection criteria was based on the degree of positive impact a community has made on the economic health of the towns and cities in which they are located, as well as, their ability to provide a high quality of life to those who are embarking on retirement.

In a letter addressed to Willow Creek developer, Jeff Darragh, announcing Willow Creek's recent designation, Northridge writes, "Your community is among an elite group of developments that offer today's retirees a well-rounded, active lifestyle. We extend our heartiest congratulations to you, your employees and your residents, and we wish you continued success."

When asked to comment on being one of only two communities in Tennessee to receive the Top 100 status, Darragh said, "We couldn't be more pleased that so many individuals, who have participated in the making of Willow Creek, can share personally in this special honor. It also means that more than a half million people could take the opportunity to visit us when considering a retirement destination. It's great for Willow Creek and great for Sweetwater."

According to Darragh, the Worthington Group responds to every inquiry with information regarding the Willow Creek community. He adds that mailings include printed material regarding things to see and do in Monroe County and a brochure regarding Sweetwater's historic downtown shopping. "The Whispering Willow" a monthly newsletter distributed by Willow Creek, includes local highlights as well.

Willow Creek is located at 745 New Highway 68 in Sweetwater.  The small town, traditional neighborhood design of the community features Victorian and Craftsman style homes. The community center includes exercise facilities, activity rooms, an outdoor pool and tennis courts; and there are parks, ponds and an amphitheatre for events.  Home prices begin at $149,900, including lot.  Town homes are also available from $129,900. Buyers begin by choosing a location/ homesite; select from a variety of available floor plans; then meet with Worthington's onsite interior and architectural design staff to make finishing selections.

Darragh heads up onsite construction efforts. "We stay close to our customers from their initial visit, through the construction and warranty period as they eventually become our neighbors and friends," he said.

Willow Creek currently has more than 80 residences in occupancy. A limited number of new homes are available for purchase. Custom homes can be completed in 4-6 months.
