A Monroe County couple with a long history of run-ins with the law were arrested Sunday after an incident that nearly caused one man to lose an eye.
Monroe County Deputy Jedi Phillips said it started Saturday when Susie Grant reported her ex-boyfriend John Greene had violated an order of protection when he called her from a restricted number and said he had some confidential information for her. Grant said Greene knew she had a drug problem and he was going to take their children from her.
On Sunday Phillips responded to a house on Old Lee Highway near Sweetwater where Grant said Floyd and Rhonda Jenkins were trying to hurt her. The duo allegedly showed up at the house with Eric McNabb and a 1-year-old child in the car.
William Spangler told Phillips that a fight ensued that also involved John Greene and at one point Grant picked up a large rock and struck McNabb in the side of the head with it, causing an eye injury.
Phillips said Greene and Grant threw rocks and other items at the car while the child was inside it. They also allegedly used boards with nails and coke cans during the fight.
Phillips said Grant and Greene took off before his arrival, but he was able to arrest them when they showed at the hospital where McNabb was being treated. Grant had come to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Grant and Greene are both charged with two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a child and aggravated assault.
