The American Red Cross recently announced the following Monroe County residents graduated from the Red Cross Nurse’s Assistant Training (NAT) program: Kerry Austin of Tellico Plains; and Patricia Sowell of Sweetwater.

The NAT program is an intensive course that prepares students for a career in the medical field.  This popular Red Cross course combines classroom instruction and field experience in order to provide students with the best available training in the nurse’s assistant field.

After graduation, students may go on to take the state certification exam to become Certified Nurse’s Assistants, which would enable them to work in nursing homes, hospitals, and other medical facilities.
NAT classes are offered during an eight-week night program or a five-week day program.
For more information regarding the Nurse’s Assistant Program, contact the Red Cross at
(865) 584-2999, or log onto www.knoxarc.org.
