Vonore Youth Sports Elections

Election of officers for the 2008-09 fiscal year will take place on Monday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at the football field bleachers.

There will also be a vote on changes to the bylaws (details of the proposed changes will be advised at the meeting).

You may request a full copy of the amended bylaws by e-mailing SbsportsmomDawn@aol.com.

Board meetings will be held on the last Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Vonore Elementary School gym.

Dates for the meetings are as follows: Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 23, Dec. 28.

Anyone wanting to put an item on the agenda must submit the request in writing to the above email address at least 10 days before the meetings.

Hunter’s Education Class

There will be a hunter’s education class Aug. 25-29 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. nightly.

The classes will be held upstairs at Sweetwater City Hall. For more information, call 1-800-332-0900.

Stringers Needed

Stringers are needed to help cover fall sports in Monroe County.

Anyone interested in covering girls’ soccer, volleyball, or youth league football can contact sports editor Corbitt Hollingsworth by phone at 337-7101 or by e-mail at sportseditor@advocateanddemocrat.com.

We want to get the teams as much coverage as possible and help will be needed to do so. Prior experience is not necessary, just a willingness to help out.

Deadline for Wednesday paper is 11 a.m. on Tuesday, for Friday paper, 11 a.m. on Thursday, and for Sunday paper, 11 a.m. on Friday.
