Vonore Youth Sports Elections

Election of officers for the 2008-09 fiscal year will take place on Monday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at the football field bleachers. 

Anyone wanting to run for office must submit their intentions in writing via email (SBsportsmomDawn@aol.com) by July 20. 

There will also be a vote on changes to the bylaws (details of the proposed changes will be advised at the meeting). 

You may request a full copy of the amended bylaws via the above email address.Board meetings will be held on the last Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Vonore Elementary School gym. 

Dates for the meetings are as follows: July 26, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 23, Dec. 28. Anyone wanting to put an item on the agenda must submit the request in writing to the above email address at least 10 days before the meetings.

Sweetwater Football Sign-ups

Sign-ups for the Sweetwater Optimist Club football and cheerleader programs will be held July 25 from 6-8 p.m. and July 26 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Sweetwater Recreation Center. 

All youth who are 6 years of age and who do not turn 14 before August 1 are eligible.

 If a child is in eighth grade and not repeating that grade, and is not 15 before Dec. 1, they will be eligible to play. 

Youth must be accompanied by at least one parent. The sign-up fee is $30 and must be paid the day of sign-ups and a copy of a birth certificate is required. 

Practice will start for football and cheerleading July 29. 

There will be a football and cheerleading coaching clinic on July 28 from 6-8 p.m.
