(Last modified: 2009-11-02 13:40:02) Source: The Monroe County Advocate Vonore Mayor Larry Summey appointed a new interim police chief Friday. Mike Myers, who spent 18 years working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was on the job Saturday meeting people at the Vonore Baptist Church Trunk or Treat. Getting to know the young people in the community will be one of the new chief's priorities. "I am super big into youth," he said. "I love kids." Myers is also encouraging the officers to get involved in the community and have more face-to-face contact with people in town. See more details in the Tuesday edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
