(Last modified: 2009-10-29 09:40:03) The Tellico Plains Bears enter Friday night's regular season finale against Midway knowing a win will almost certainly get them in the playoffs.
However, it will be another game that decides how the Bears reach the playoffs and where the first-round game is played. According to the TSSAA, a Rockwood win over Harriman would give the Tigers the automatic Class 2A playoff berth from District 3-A despite Tellico beating Rockwood 21-6 on Sept. 18. However, a Harriman win, combined with a Tellico win, would give the Bears the automatic berth. The Bears have bigger worries than their place in the playoffs, though, as Midway enters Friday's game with a surge of confidence. The Green Wave captured its second win of the season last week with a 14-6 win over Hancock County. Although Midway enters the game at 2-7 overall and 0-4 in District 3-A, three losses were by seven points and two of those came in district play. The Bears have had two weeks to prepare for Midway as Tellico was off last Friday. In their last game, the Bears clobbered Greenback 32-7. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. Copyright © 2010, The Advocate and Democrat |
