The People's Kitchen will hold its first fundraiser Sunday in anticipation of opening its doors next week.
The Kitchen is located on Tellico Street where the Monroe County Democrat Headquarters is located, but Anna Berger said the Kitchen would one day have a building of its own.

The Kitchen will be non-profit and all volunteer and will offer free meals to anyone, though a donation will always be welcome.

The fundraiser will start Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. and will have several special guests, including Madisonville Mayor Alfred McClendon and Monroe County Sheriff Bill Bivens.
An executive chef from the Expo Center in Knoxville will be on hand to cook food donated from local restaurants Sunday.

When The People's Kitchen opens its doors, it will be open from Sunday through Wednesday, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
