The third-annual Champions Training for Success football camp will be held June 22-26 at the Sweetwater Recreation Complex. Football players of all skill levels are invited. Players ages 6-12 will attend camp June 22 and 23 and the cost is $75. Ages 13 and up will attend June 24-26 and the cost is $125. Campers can be registered on the day of camp. Fundamentals of Basketball Camp Tellico Plain's Fundamentals of Basketball Camp will be held on June 22, 23, 25, and 26 from 6-9 p.m. at the Tellico Plains Junior High gym. The cost is $35 and the camp is for boys and girls entering the third-eighth grades. The camp cost will be $25 each for two or more siblings. Players will rotate through stations with players of their own age to better develop fundamental basketball skills. Competitive games, T-shirts, awards, and evaluation sheets will be available for all campers. Vonore Youth Football Sign-ups Vonore Youth Sports will be holding sign-ups for football and cheerleading on June 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Vonore Elementary School gym. Tellico Youth Football The Tellico Plains Youth Football program extends an invitation to any player from Madisonville, Sweetwater, Tellico Plains, and Vonore to sign-up for its youth program. Tellico is a member of the SETAC Conference, which allows players to play their natural position instead of being limited to certain positions due to their weight. Joey Hunt Fishing Tournament The Joey Hunt Memorial Bass Club (JHMBC) Tournament is held every Thursday evening on Watts Bar Lake. Blast off and weigh-in is out of Whaley's Boat Ramp on Hwy 72, approximately two miles west of I -75. Although individuals may fish alone, this is a two-person team event with an entry fee of $30 per boat, which includes a $5 big fish pot (paid weekly) and a $5 Classic Fee. A $10 membership fee is required on an angler's first night of fishing. The club's finale will be the JHMBC Classic on September 19. One hundred percent of all membership fees are paid out at the annual Classic Event. In addition, Classic winners receive a plaque that bears the image of Sgt. Hunt to keep in their possession until the following year's event is held. All amateur fishermen are welcome to participate.
