The open house will feature tours of the clinic. Chota medical professionals will conduct free blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose screenings. Chota also will demonstrate its electronic medical records system, which is being implemented at all clinics. Attendees can register to win one of two $50 pre-paid Visa cards.

Chota Community Health Services is a not-for-profit corporation organized to provide affordable healthcare to all residents of Monroe County regardless of economic status or insurance coverage. Chota’s services include full primary care, pediatrics, obstetrics (prenatal and child birth), nutrition, health education, well woman, pre-employment physicals, drug screenings, X-ray, bone density screenings, emotional health, lab work, and monitoring of chronic conditions such as hypertension, asthma, and diabetes.

“We often don’t think of healthcare until we’re sick. This is an opportunity for the community to see what Chota has to offer,” said CEO Brian Smith. “Our goal is to provide Monroe County residents with quality, affordable healthcare.”

In addition to Tellico Plains, Chota has offices in Madisonville and Vonore and operates seven school-based clinics for Monroe County students and Department of Education employees.
