McMeans was transported back from an Alabama prison after Rebecca Watson reported he had taken a boat, trailers, motorcycles, trucks and other items from her and refused to give them back. Police had been notified of a motor vehicle accident, and when officers arrived they gathered information from both drivers. While checking Clemmers license, they were advised that his license had been revoked due to his failure to pay child support. • Andrea Owens, 48, County Road 142, Riceville, was arrested July 23. Police observed her car in the Sweetwater High School parking lot around 10:30 p.m. When an officer approached the vehicle, Owens told the officer that she had had five long island iced teas, and that he should take her to jail. She didn’t live in Monroe County and there was no one to come pick her up. • On July 23, Sweetwater Police received a report of a stolen license plate. Jessie Sturgill, 17, Childress Street, Sweetwater, called after noticing the plate missing from her mother’s van. The tag belonged to a 1990 white Chevy Astro, and Sturgill was unsure as to when the tag was stolen. Copyright © 2009, The Advocate and Democrat |
