The Sweetwater Wildcats wrapped up their passing league Thursday night, but not with the result they desired.
McMinn Central scored a touchdown with eight seconds remaining in the game to take the 28-22 win over the Wildcats.

Sweetwater finished the week with a record of 2-2 with both losses coming within the final few seconds of the game.
The Sweetwater offense struggled to find its rhythm for the second straight game as quarterback Tyler Richesin finished 12-of-21 throwing for 263 yards.
Sammy Blomstrom was on the receiving end of two touchdown passes while Adam Worley collected the other.

Jimiese McDermott was the leading receiver, catching four balls for 163 yards.
The Wildcats struck first as Blomstrom hauled in a 14 yard pass for the game’s first score. The two-point conversion was no good and Sweetwater held an early 6-0 lead.
Following a Central touchdown, Sweetwater went three-and-out on its next series and punted.
The Chargers cashed in with another score to take the 14-6 lead.

Richesin promptly marched the Cats down field with a 41-yard completion to McDermott and 29-yard strike to Blomstrom to tie the game at 14 at the half.
Central struck first in the second half to reclaim the lead, but Richesin led a methodical, nine-play drive to tie the score at 22 when he found Worley on a one-yard touchdown pass.

The Chargers used 3:52 to march down the field one last time to score the winning points and leave Sweetwater with only eight seconds to score.
McDermott caught a desperation “Hail Mary” on the final play of the game but slipped down 17 yards from the end zone.

The Wildcats will regroup and prepare for the start of fall practice, which begins July 28.
Sweetwater will travel to The Chop House on Aug. 22 to take on archrival Sequoyah to open its season.
