The Sweetwater 5-6 year old All-Star team, which placed second in the district and will be making its first appearance in the state tournament, is asking for donations to help with the costs of going to the state tournament. 

Any business or individual that would like to make a donation can contact Cindi Bibee at 423-253-4837. 

The last day to make a donation will be July 11.

Cooper’s All-Star Camp

The Second Annual Cooper’s All-Star Camp will be held July 9-11 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Sweetwater High School softball field. 

The camp will be run by former Sweetwater and University of Tennessee-Chattanooga standout Carey Cooper and Sweetwater assistant coach Steve Cooper. The camp is open to softball players ages 8-18 and cost $50, but space is limited.

Tellico Plains Basketball Camp

Tellico Plains’ “Fundamentals of Basketball” camp will be held July 7, 8, 10, and 11 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Tellico Plains Junior High School gym. 

The camp is for boys and girls enter grades four through eight. The camp cost $35, and $25 for each additional sibling. 

The camp will teach players dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive skills while also allowing the campers to put those skills to use with 3-on-3, 4-on-4, and 5-on-5 games. Each camper will receive a t-shirt, an evaluation sheet, and a list of drills to practice at home.
