Derek Dean Ellis

Derek Dean Ellis of South Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 11. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church and an avid hiker and artist.

He was 28.

Survivors include: wife-Katie Ellis;

Children-Makayla and Lauphlyn Ellis;

Parents-Dean and his wife, Paula Ellis and Sandra and Roger Blackburn;

Sisters-Deidre Hill, Raven Blackburn and Amanda Wills;

Grandparents-Harvey and Mary Ellis and Mike and Luria Fritts;

Mother-in-law-Denise Watkins;

Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Graveside services were Monday, Aug. 18, at Asbury Cemetery with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to a trust fund that will be established to help provide for Derek’s daughters. Details will be announced later.
