James Colonel Buckner

James Colonel Buckner of Englewood, passed away Wednesday,
Feb. 3, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a son of the late Robert Lee
and Myrtle Lucille Ingram Buckner. He was a native of McMinn County and a
resident of Monroe County for the past 30 years. He was a member of Shoal Creek
Baptist Church and he loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was retired from
J.S. Haren Construction and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Preceded in death by: parents; first wife, Lena Mae Barber;
sister, Connie Buckner; and one brother, Gene Buckner.
Survivors include: wife-Norma Buckner of Englewood;
Sons and daughters-in-law-Ricky and Devern Buckner, Lamar
and Teresa Buckner, Arvil Buckner and Calvin Buckner, all of Englewood;
Sisters-Kitty Sue Aaron and Dora Lee Newman, both of
Etowah;Nora Nation of Cleveland; Fay Brogden and Helen Leamon, both of
Chattanooga; and Barbara Budds of Madisonville;
Three grandchildren;
One great-grandchild;
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7, in
the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Strickland will
officiate. Burial will follow the service at Conasauga Cemetery and will
conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony. The family will receive
friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, at the funeral Home. Pallbearers will
be Gene Tucker, Mitchel McDowell, Bob Shultz, Eli Dunn, Josh Farner, Arvil
Buckner and Lamar Buckner. Bordwine Funeral Home, Etowah, in charge of
arrangements.
