Stanford Tate Sr.

Stanford Tate Sr. of Madisonville, passed away at 5 p.m.,
Saturday, Nov. 7, at East Tennessee Health Care Center. He was a veteran of the
U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He was a custom home builder having
owned his own business in Madisonville for more than 60 years. He was a pilot
and was instrumental in the development of the Monroe County Airport and the
Monroe County Rescue Squad and was a member of Madisonville Presbyterian
Church.
He was 84.
Preceded in death by: parents, Horace Winston and Reba
Hutson Tate; brothers, Kenneth, Alvin, Jerry, Billy Wayne and Charles Tate.
Survivors include: daughter-Laura Tate Gilbreath of Roswell,
Ga.;
Sons and daughter-in-law-Bob Tate of Vonore; Kenneth and
Kathy Tate of Madisonville;
Grandchildren-Dustin Tate, Blake Gilbreath, Corri Morris,
Amanda Gilbreath, Casey Deaguero;
Great-grandchildren-Bailey Tate, Elijah Morris, Ethan
Morris, Keaton Gilbreath, Ella Morris, Connor Gilbreath;
Sisters-Wilma Hamilton of Tellico Plains; and Helen Shaw of
Madisonville;
Brother-Arlin Tate of Duluth, Ga.;
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will 7 p.m., Tuesday, in Biereley-Hale
Chapel with the Rev. Mike Chamberlain and Rev. Carroll Hamilton officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, in Rural Vale Cemetery. Memorials may be
made to the Boys & Girls Club of the Monroe Area. Family will receive friends
from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Biereley-Hale. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral
